Charity

She has an outgoing optimistic spirit and loves everything creative. She has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Kentucky University. She works as a Talent Coordinator at The Galt House Hotel and is the musical director and choreographer for the youth theatre programs at Sacred Heart School for the Arts.

She is the youngest of eight kids and has seen her brothers and sisters grow up and get married and start families of their own. Its now her time to start hers with Austin.

Austin

He is a fun loving laid back guy that has a awesome sense of humor and is creative in his own right as well. He has a BA in Broadcast Journalism from Western Kentucky University. He is the video editor at City on a Hill Productions. He works on all the amazing christian based films and series that City produces.

He is the oldest of two kids and for a long time thought he was an only child, only to be surprised with a little sister! He is excited about bringing Charity into his small family and having their own one day.

We met on July 4, 2011. Yes, on Independence Day! To celebrate this day, Austin and his friends were having a cookout with USA themed outfits.

Little did they know, it was my parents' 25 anniversary and I was going to a cookout party of my own. My brother and his wife hosted a party for my parents at their house. There was a "family tree" given to my parents with all the brothers' and sisters' names on branches with their significant others on the twig and their kid's names on the leaves... mine was bare. So, that became a funny thing to joke about with me. After the anniversary party my friend Liz invited me to come to a cookout with her. I knew no one who would be there but said, "sure."

As Liz and a couple other girlfriends entered the apartment, I saw a bunch of guys dressed like rednecks in USA garb. It was funny, and they all introduced themselves. Austin was specifically memorable because he was wearing a cut off sleeveless shirt (that was manufactured that way) with a bald eagle and a flag on it and cut off jeans (that he made). We somehow ended up talking and got along well and exchanged numbers. Over the next 6 months or so we were "just friends" and would hang out when I wasn't off doing theatre somewhere.

It was my birthday; my 25th birthday. Let's face it, I felt old. My friends begged me to go out with them to celebrate my birthday, and I gave in. When we walked in, we found a booth near the front door. We sat down and out of nowhere, in walks Austin and a couple of his friends! We had not talked in a good 4 months but we were mutually excited to see one another. We hung out and after he walked me to my car, that was it. We started "talking" which finally turned in to dating. The best relationships start as friendships first. Right? :)

Charity was nervous about getting all packed up for their trip with Austin's family to Kansas City for Thanksgiving. She was going to meet his Grandma (his dad's mom) for the first time!

They had talked about leaving around 12pm to go to Benton (where Austin's parents live). Austin said that he couldn't get off work and would be working until around 3pm. Charity thought that she would pack and take a nap!

Charity woke up and finished packing and got in the shower. Not noticing her phone, she missed his text and couple of phone calls. Oops! She blow dried her hair, threw on a sweatshirt and yoga pants and didn't worry about make up because, hey, they were only going to drive to his parents for the night.

She called Austin back and he said, "you can come on over." She thought he was coming to pick her up on the way. "But my apartment is on the way... why don't you just come get me?" she said. "Ummmmm..... well... I.. I ... need your help with something," he muttered.

Charity was a little annoyed because what in the world would he need help with? I mean its only packing right?

She walked up the stairs and knocked on his door where he opened the door and smiled and said very quietly "hey". She came in the door greeted by his hug as she heard John Mayer music playing. The smell of food was in the air and she asked, "did you cook something?" She looked in the kitchen and there was only one pan out... weird. He answered, "maybe," and put his hand on her back and led her around the corner.

As she walked she couldn't breathe from the sight of a perfect meal placed neatly on his table with wine and A RING BOX OPENED WITH THE RING SHE HAD PICKED OUT IN IT!!!!

As she covered her mouth and started to tear up, he got on one knee and said, "Charity, I love you so much. Will you marry me?" She cried, he teared up (though he wouldn't EVER admit that to anyone) and they hugged for a really long time. Then he said, "... do you wanna put your ring on?" And of course she said, "yes." It looked perfect! And they sat down to eat.

They were so overwhelmed with excitement it was hard for them to actually eat. Then he said, "hey whats under your plate?" She said, "well, I don't know!!" And he told her to look. Under the plate was a piece of paper. On it was the ticket confirmation for the John Mayer concert that was that night! Remember when I told you what she looked like? Add crying to that and you can imagine how she was feeling...

She didn't care at all actually what she looked like. She was engaged to her best friend and going to the John Mayer concert!

They both made the calls to everyone to tell them and to share the joy of the night!
